As crime-solving shows go, Peacock’s Poker Face is a swell one. Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black) is lovable and compelling as Charlie Cale, a casino employee who happens to have a talent for sniffing out lies. The series, which is modeled after classic mystery series like Columbo and Quantum Leap, follows Charlie from town to town as she solves murders, bringing along plenty of colorful characters played by a solid cast. With 1970s styling, excellent guest stars, and a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor, Poker Face is a definite winner.
The 10-episode series premiered on January 26, and the first four episodes are now available to watch on Peacock. Writer Rian Johnson’s drama is off to a great start, and fans are loving the mix of action, humor, and a gripping murder mystery. The show has a feel similar to old-school Columbo, where the murder is revealed at the beginning of each episode and the rest is Charlie hunting down the perp.
Unlike many contemporary cop shows, which often film on soundstages in Los Angeles, Poker Face is shot on location all over the country. The show’s first season filmed in several locations throughout New York State, including Ulster County, Orange County, Dutchess County, and Putnam County. It also filmed in various spots around Newburgh, where eight of the season’s 10 episodes were shot. The crew also filmed in and around the towns of Beacon, Fishkill, Garrison, and Hudson Valley, among others. It filmed in New Mexico as well, specifically in Albuquerque, where the show shot a significant portion of its second season.
When it comes to finding out where was poker face filmed, there’s actually quite a bit of information available. The show primarily shoots in New York, but some scenes were filmed in California and Nevada as well. Filming for the series began in April of 2022 and wrapped up in October of that year. The producers largely used locations in the Hudson Valley and Ulster County for the majority of its shooting, but they did also go to places like Albuquerque, Nevada, and California to create some of the show’s more interesting sets.
One of the most interesting locations to be used in the show is a casino in Laughlin, Nevada. That is where viewers will see the Frost Casino, which is a fictional casino in the show. However, the production team did use some real casinos in the area for some of its filming. The crew also filmed in a few other locations in New Mexico, including a truck stop, a barbecue joint, and on tour with a metal band.
